Higher Love LGI Aerial

FAQs

How do I fly there?

Little Gasparilla Island (LGI) is in Placida, Florida. Visitors can fly into Sarasota, approximately 1-1.5 hrs north, Ft. Meyers, approximately 1-1.5 hrs south, and Punta Gorda, located 45 minutes away in Charlotte County. We suggest arranging transportation services to/from the airport to avoid parking fees from renting a car - once on the island, you won’t need it!

I drove to Placida, Florida. Now what?

We suggest parking your vehicle at Eldred’s Marina, located at 6301 Boca Grande Causeway, Placida, FL 33946. Vehicle parking is $6/day. Call (941) 697-1431 for hours and more pricing information.

Getting to the island

If you have your own boat, Higher Love visitors have access to a slip at Dock #38. You can arrange to rent a boat - call John at Weekly Boat Rentals (941) 812-1607 to make arrangements for a rental boat to be conveniently tied up at Eldred’s Marina for your arrival.

To arrange a pick up on the Pirate’s Water taxi, call (941) 697-5777. Make sure to make your arrangements 1-2 weeks in advance (the earlier the better) and arrive at least 15 minutes before your departure time. You will unload your luggage (pack lightly!) and supplies at the designated pick up area at the dock at Eldred’s. You must have rental confirmation to use Pirate Water Taxi services. Prices start at $10 cash per person. Be sure to mention during booking if you have oversized gear or equipment.

Groceries and other necessities

LGI is a bridgeless barrier island, with no roads, so visitors must prepare ahead of time with the appropriate amount of groceries and personal supplies. If you bring groceries from home, we suggest a cooler to keep your groceries cold and fresh from the dock to the island.

Publix at Cape Haze is your closest grocery store. They offer curbside pick-up for Instacart orders. Another convenient option is contacting Evan at Island Grocery services - he can pick up your groceries and deliver them right to your refrigerator. Call (941) 830-1346 for more information about their services.

On the island

There are not many traditional services on LGI. You must bring home what you bring to the island, including accumulated trash. Upon departure, you may gather your trash in a large trash bag and pay to dispose it at Eldred’s Marina, or you can arrange trash pick up in advance with Evan at Island Grocery services. Trash pick ups are scheduled for Tuesdays and Fridays.

One Eyed Willy’s pizza on LGI is a great way to take a break from cooking - call/text (941) 402-5093 before 5 to arrange for delivery.

There is a local paramedic/fire chief on the island. Visit the Little Gasparilla Fire and Rescue page for general information, or contact Bill at (941) 270-7607.

Golf Cart and other rentals

Guests at Higher Love can request a golf cart to rent during booking, availability on a first come first serve basis. There are options during check out - please get in touch with any questions about the booking process.

Visitors on LGI have access to the best fishing in the area. Contact Julio Lleras at (813) 781-0530 to arrange a private fishing charter.

Additional water equipment - kayaks, SUPs, etc - can be arranged. We suggest contacting William at (941) 402-5093 for additional information.
